How to Check Whether Your Device Supports IPTV
A short checklist for finding your device model and system version, so you can confirm it can run an IPTV player app before you pay.
Compatibility depends on three things: the device itself, its software version and the player app you intend to use. The brand name alone does not settle it. This checklist takes a few minutes.
1. Find the exact model
On a television, open Settings and look under Support, About or General. On a phone or tablet, open Settings, then About phone or About. On a Windows or Mac computer, open System Information. Write down the make, model name and model number.
2. Note the system version
Look for the operating system name and version, for example Android TV, Google TV, Fire OS, webOS, Tizen, Android, iOS, Windows or macOS. Older versions may no longer receive app updates, which can stop a player app from installing.
3. Check storage and memory
Player apps need free storage to install and run. Many older sticks and televisions have very little left once they are full of other apps. Removing apps you no longer use can solve installation problems.
4. Check the network
Use a wired connection if your device supports it. If you rely on Wi-Fi, test the signal in the room where you will watch. Our guide to internet speed and Wi-Fi explains what to look for.
5. Ask for a compatibility check
Send us the make, model and system version on WhatsApp and we will tell you honestly whether it is likely to work. We do not guess, and we do not claim that every device is supported. See the compatible devices page for the device types we can usually help with.
If your device is not suitable
A low-cost streaming stick or an Android TV box is often an easy alternative. Check with us before buying one so you get something that fits.
